A Brief History of Warrensburg, MO

The history of Warrensburg dates back to 1833, when Martin Warren arrived from Kentucky and settled along the Osage Indian Trail. Warren was a blacksmith who found his cabin and blacksmith shop to be the local’s gathering spot, and in 1836, Warren’s shop was named the county seat of the newly created County of Johnson. The township was later named Warren’s Burg in recognition of Martin. It was in 1855 that the township was incorporated as the City of Warrensburg!

Four Amazing Reasons to Stay at a Bed & Breakfast

When traveling to a new town, finding hotels that meet your needs at an affordable price can be difficult. Hotels rooms are typically on the small side, and wifi and breakfast isn’t always complementary. At most Bed & Breakfasts, breakfast is complimentary and the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. Here are a few amazing reasons why you should choose to stay at a B&B rather than a hotel when planning your next vacation!

Personal Attention

At Bed & Breakfasts, the hosts are experts on the area and can offer incredible insight on what to do and where to eat in the area. Since B&Bs are smaller than hotels, you get more assistance and personal attention.

Unique Rooms

Affordable hotels tend to stick to one theme in every room; unless you’re paying extra and staying at a resort. At B&Bs, every room has a theme and its own name.  Instead of only having the option to choose a room type like hotels offer, B&Bs allow you to choose which room you would like aesthetically. Bed & Breakfasts have a lot of history, and each room tells a story. You will truly feel like home when staying at one.

Extra Amenities

When staying at a hotel, most amenities are add-ons. Wifi and breakfast can bring up that bill immensely. Also, the breakfast isn’t homemade. At B&Bs, Innkeepers go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and get the most out of your money. Breakfast is complimentary and homemade, and you may also find other little treats; such as free wine, baked goods and snacks and wait for it…..free parking. Also, depending on the B&B you choose, wifi is included. Another benefit of staying at a B&B rather than a hotel is the beauty in every corner of the house/building. When staying at hotels, the pools are full of people and it can be tricky to have a peaceful, relaxing experience outside. At B&Bs, if they have a pool, you won’t be surrounded by large groups of people since they are much smaller than hotels.

Events

At most Bed & Breakfasts, you can book special events. Here at Gelbach Manor, you can book for many occasions!

  • Weddings
  • Baby Showers
  • Anniversaries
  • Rehearsal Dinners
  • Birthdays
  • Graduation Parties
