A Brief History of Warrensburg, MO
The history of Warrensburg dates back to 1833, when Martin Warren arrived from Kentucky and settled along the Osage Indian Trail. Warren was a blacksmith who found his cabin and blacksmith shop to be the local’s gathering spot, and in 1836, Warren’s shop was named the county seat of the newly created County of Johnson. The township was later named Warren’s Burg in recognition of Martin. It was in 1855 that the township was incorporated as the City of Warrensburg!
Nightlife
If you are visiting town for a special occasion, or traveling with a group of people, you’ll want to visit Pine street in Downtown Warrensburg! Filled with nearly a dozen different bars and restaurants, you’ll experience nightlife in a unique and exciting way. Outdoor Activities
Powell Gardens: Located just 20 minutes from Gelbach Manor, Powell Gardens is truly breathtaking and a must on your itinerary! Set on 970 acres of lush, rolling hills and windswept meadows, Powell Gardens offers breathtaking display gardens, interesting architecture, a nature trail and a year-round calendar of special events and classes for the entire family.
Fishing: If you like to fish, you won’t be disappointed when in the area. There are plenty of lakes to choose from, especially Lake of the Ozarks which is only a little over an hour and a half away!
Golf: Golfing is the ultimate relaxing outdoor activity, and luckily for you, there are a few fantastic clubs to visit. Mules National Golf Club is only a four minute drive from Gelbach Manor! Other courses include Hidden Pines Country Club, and Royal Oaks Golf Course.
Daytime Activities
Shopping: If you like to shop, or are looking for unique souvenirs for friends and family, Downtown Warrensburg is the place to be. From boutiques, antique shops, bookstores, and even bridal shops, you’ll find everything you need and more when shopping downtown!
Coffee: If you can’t go on without your coffee fix, don’t worry, we understand!
